It's a Octave up + RAT + Boost in one.
Don't pay $1300 for an original, or $599 for a V3, get one for $200 that will fit on your pedalboard. Unique design blends Germanium diodes, Metal Can Op-Amps with SMT Transistors to compact this monster to a 125B enclosure without compromising tone or digitizing anything.
A switch for the Ruetz mod has also been added to the RAT section and the germanium clipping diodes have been removed. Can put them back in place of the silicon or assymetrical diodes on request. Can also put LED clipping diodes in (turbo RAT style) which will sound much better than germanium. The Ruetz mod reduces the gain and increases response in the low end. It can still be used as a standard RAT via the switch.
This pedal has the legendary metal can LM308HZ chip used in the original RAT pedal instead of the plastic DIP8 LM308N in the Earthquaker version.
The clean boost also has a huge influence on the sound and allows you to push your amp's preamp section into overdrive, giving you the opportunity to create and control multiple gain stages with one pedal.
The octave up is a green ringer style analog octave. It will work best with a neck pickup and playing above the 12th fret. The octave effect will vary from guitar to guitar due to pickups and setup. You might get some glitchy, ringmodish tones playing chords and some weird volume artifacts playing lower strings with the bridge pickup.
The results are it sounds totally insane. Can go from a gentle overdrive to a harsh high gain ear piercer, and to a blistering sub bass wall shaking monster.

Amazing Life clone! Killer price!!
So good
You can tell from the first hearing that this monster was bound to rule the underworld of bass distortion. The speakers tremble in fear and the rumble pierce through your skull. I don't play metal as I'm into post-industrial vibes. But I really love to put some low bass fuzz into my sound, and for these purposes, THIS is the pedal. Damn, I'm even tempted to start a doom band now! I combine the DoomedLife with a bit crusher (Meris Ottobit), and before a UA Dream 65 preamp pedal. The range of distorted sound I can get is beyond imagination. An endless hellish amusement park!
I've never used the EQD Life pedal before, but I don't need to because at half the cost and size, I got the DoomedLife, which is sick as sh1t. Get you one of these when Brendan re-stocks them and get yourself a DoomLord to throw behind it. Pretty much instant doom board for any rig and budget. Brendan's doing the lord's (Satan's) work with his pedals.
This is my 5th Life clone pedal and by far the best one and finally a keeper!! The distortion is amazing and boosted into octave is obviously incredible!! My other Life pedals felt cheap and not as responsive, not this one!!! Such a brilliant build by an awesome dude. I also have the Sunn model and love it as well. I think I’ll just make a board of Gehirn pedals just not sure which one I’d want next
